DELIVERANCE PRAYER IN FORM OF MAGIC (PART 4)
PROBLEMS
OF NIGHTMARE AND INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS
Main
Text:
“And the Lord said, “Now hear what I
have to say! When there are prophets among you, I will reveal myself to them in
vision, and speak to them in dreams, (Number 12:6).
WRITER’S
QUOTE:
“Dreams can only drag us to fate when
our faith in Christ is betrayed”.
INTRODUCTION:
The principal purpose of dream is to
communicate. In the words of Stella Okunna, “to communicate basically means to
share ideas, information, opinions, feelings or experiences between
people”. However, communication in dream
is not human to human, but divine to human. A dream could be active or passive
or both. It is active when one participates in the event of a dream and passive
when one watches the event of a dream without any involvement and every normal
dream takes place when one is asleep.
According to Hobart Freeman, “dreams
are mental images experienced while asleep which arise from the subconscious,
and their contents are often fanciful, unrealistic, unarranged, and
meaningless. Often times, they are coherent and meaningful, occasionally
reflecting perhaps some inner wish, emotion, and need or may at times have
symbolic significance to the individual”, and could come from God, the human
mind or Satan, but nightmare, which is a dream with a serious negative
implication is exclusively the handiwork of Satan through his network of demons
and human agents. Based on the foregoing, please learn that;
DREAMS WITH FRIGHTENING IMPRESSIONS
REQUIRE SERIOUS ATTENTION IN DELIVERANCE PRAYER
Dreams with obvious frightening
impressions are better described as nightmares. A nightmarish dream shows there
is a serious plot or attack from the fraternity or kingdom of Satan, and this
type of dreams should not be treated with levity, as they carry implications of
death or serious negative omens. In fact, people in secret fraternities of the
demonic world, in collaboration with Satan are the masterminds of nightmarish
dreams, and these show their evil intentions to steal, kill and destroy, (John
10:10).
But, there is no cause for alarm when
such dreams come-up, for Jesus Christ is always on hand to deliver those who
call on Him, (Psalm 50:15), and going to the medicine-men, voodoo pastors,
fortunetellers, or other agents of hell for solution means playing into the wrong
hands, as they have truly been named as partners with the devil in carrying out
wicked works against humanity, and therefore, have no intention or power to
actually proffer solution to the problems they often cause for people.
Every attack of the demons of
nightmare and their fraternal order is spiritual, and the counter-attack must
be spiritual, if victory is to be achieved. In line with this, the organizers
of deliverance prayer must take into account the stipulations of the Bible that
make for successful outings. Jesus says, “bind a strong man before
dispossessing him, (Matthew 12:29). In the words of Ben Onyeukwu, “an informed
prayer warrior prays to conquer every foe in his secret prayer chambers before
approaching the scene of the exercise. In other words, to bind Satan and his
cohorts, one must engage in fervent prayers, devoid of religious showmanship,
(Matthew 6:5-6). And, against the backdrop of the “back to sender” magic oil
and other items of prayer used by false deliverance preachers, devotional
fasting and faith in the word of God are very essential in any deliverance
exercise which seeks to destroy the works of demons, depicted in nightmare,
(Mark 9:29 KJV).
DREAM IS ONE OF GOD’S WAY OF
COMMUNICATING WITH THE HUMAN RACE
Admittedly,
God uses dreams to communicate with His people. The Old Testament Scripture, as
well as that of the New Testament attest to this fact. Hobart Freeman confirms
that the Scripture speaks of supernatural dreams, by which God sometimes spoke
and communicated His will, as in the cases of Daniel and Joseph. For the
purpose of clarity, it is important to note that in both dreams, Daniel in
chapter seven and eight, and Joseph in Matthew chapter two, verses fourteen and
fifteen had the meanings of their dreams vividly and clearly while in the
dreams. Put differently, God did not give them the problem of looking for
interpreters after the encounter with Him in the dreams.
God’s
desire to communicate with His people in dreams is not in doubt, as He always
looks for a common ground that makes for effective communication between Him
and His people. Therefore, Stella Okunna is right as she further remarks that
this common ground must be established between the people (now between God and
His people) involved in any communication process, before communication can be
effective. No doubt, this is the effort of the Lord, as He puts out His
revelation in the book of the Prophet Joel chapter two, verse twenty-eight, in
the Old Testament which the Apostle Peter confirms in Acts of Apostles two,
verses sixteen and seventeen in which He expresses His deep desire to
communicate with His people, in various forms, including dreams. Do, feel free
to sleep and wake-up with good dreams, as well as notice that a proper exegesis
of the Bible will definitely show that;
DREAM INTERPRETATION IS
NOT REQUIRED IN DELIVERANCE PRAYER
This
discourse has already established the fact that God gives and uses dreams
sometimes in communicating with the human race. It also acknowledges that this
mode of divine to human communication used by God in the Old Testament times,
is still in use today, (Acts 2:16-17), as well as noted that all nightmarish
dreams are not from God. Equally, this religious piece undoubtedly, carries the
message that apart from nightmares, most of the dreams in human experience
today are not from God, but from the evil one, and his agents, and that the
interpretations given to such dreams remain the handiwork of Satan, the
devil.
In
furtherance, Hobart Freeman stresses that, “it is the occult practice of
divination by the interpretation of dreams which has ensnared many in the
demonic web of occultism. Satan has deluded many believing that dreams are
filled with omens and symbolic meanings dealing with the past, present and
future. According to the occultists, dreams are supposed to constitute messages
to us which are to be interpreted to help and guide our lives. The details of
our dreams are said to speak symbolically of love, finance, business, danger,
solutions to problems, one’s career, friends, and the desire for affection or
power”.
Dreams in
occultism, Dr. Freeman continues to say, “also have prophetic and telepathic
significance revealing the future, forewarning of such things like illness,
accidents, a fire, the death of a friend or family member or may warn of some
disappointment, danger or disaster to come”, and unfortunately, these occult
concepts of interpretation of dreams now exist in the Christian Church, and are
widely used by magic preachers in deliverance operations.
That
people like Daniel and Joseph, were prominent in the interpretation of dreams,
in foreign lands and to Gentile Kings, for definite purposes, does not mean God
was establishing a doctrine on interpretation of dreams. Joseph’s
interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream was a way of working out God’s purpose in his
life, as well as a means by which His glory was revealed in Egypt, (Genesis
41). Equally, the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams by Daniel served
the same purpose, (Daniel 2 and 4).
But,
today, “many individuals, according to Freeman are not aware that the forces of
darkness make use of the analysis and interpretation of dreams to influence and
control the lives, actions, attitudes, and decisions of countless thousands of
deluded persons, who resort to the use of this method of divination or
fortunetelling, as uncountable number of books have been printed on the
subject-matter. However, one strong proof of the satanic origins of such books
is the non-coherence of interpretation, and this, authenticates the fact that
familiar spirits from the covens of the devil are responsible for the
interpretation of dreams in such books, and not the Holy Spirit. For, if God is
behind such interpretations, the meanings and analysis would have been the
same.
In conclusion, please note that dreams
are not designed to control our lives, but a means by which God may speak to
us. When God speaks in dreams, the messages are certain, and do not contradict
the Bible. But, when demons or even our minds are responsible for our dreams,
contradictions are likely to be in place. Also, guide against the idea of
reading un-necessary meanings into your dreams, for this often leads to error.
So, learn to pray fervently when your dreams appear not to be favourable, for
God will always grant victory to those who seek Him diligently. DON’T BE AFRAID.
